Banner Week!

We’ve been doing things in our open area active learning time. We do this on a Tuesday afternoon. It has a theme – Scottish book – Kidnappit. We did ICT and used publisher to make a wanted poster, we did drama role play about Kidnappit, being David the outlaw being interviewed- Cameron, Josh, Anna and Laura made a podcast of this, we did ICT research about Scottish authors, we found out about Sir Walter Scott, Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, we wrote letters from David to his uncle or lawyer. We researched the Jacobites using our library dewey system. We did technology building his ship the Covennant.

We have been making a Christmas Africa Banner, for the gym hall wall. Each class is doing a different continent. We have been making papier mache faces, drawing African animals, making a map of Africa and colour coding it.

In language we started new reading books last week – The Christmas Carol and Under the Bomber’s Moon. The Bomber’s Moon is about the war that we’ve been doing in our topic. The guy in the Christmas Carol is an old grump and the saddest guy in the world!

Next week we are going to Castle Toward and those not going are being junior classroom assistants, helping with other classes. We cannae wait. But some of us are worried because we are really picky eaters. We get to eat hundreds of things there! We get £6 from the PTA each for our pocket money and we managed to bring down the cost from £140 to 80 quid by doing our world war 2 exhibition. Paul managed to sell thirteen pop up books in twenty minutes with Andrew and Matthew….
